ASTO powers the ASM AI Protocol in the open metaverse, including AI Agent Training, Governance, minting NFTs, in-game transactions, asset creation, and more, boasting a total supply of 2,384,000,000.
What Is ASM?
Altered State Machine (ASM) is a metaverse platform for building, training, and trading AI agents using NFTs. Currently, the ASM AI Protocol powers the Muhammad Ali | The Next Legends boxing game. ASM has merged with 10 other companies to form Futureverse. Additionally, in March 2022, the project completed a Seed Fundraising round with the participation of 17 institutions, including TCG, Warner Music Group, Coinbase Ventures, and others.
Technical Principles Behind ASM
The ASM AI Protocol combines ASM Brains, the ASTO Token, and The Root Network to enable the development of decentralized AI experiences.
To be specific, the ASM platform provides any application (e.g., game, metaverse, financial) with the ability to create AI Agents that are owned as NFTs. Agents can learn, grow, and improve through training. Training happens in an Artificial Intelligence Gym®, utilizing a machine learning (ML) model trainer specific to each world, and designed to improve the Agent’s performance in that world. The ML model uses a neural network, and acts in synergy with the Agent’s unique Genome, so the outcomes for each Agent are unique.
The AI Agents in ASM’s protocol are composed of three items: a Brain, Memories, and a Form. The Brain is the core of the agent, each is created with a randomized set of base values known as a Genome Matrix, your Agent’s DNA. Memories store learned behavioural strategies the Agent has learned (AI model training). The Form encodes physical attributes (what it looks like, and how it operates). With Brains being NFTs they are interoperable and a single AI Brain could be paired with any form to create an AI Agent, such as Meebits or Bored Apes.
From a deeper technical perspective, the core of ASM technology is the Composite Unit, which has also been patented by the US Patent Office. A composite unit includes three components. Execution Model: a specification of executable code implementing the model (e.g., a content addressed URL where an executable code AI model is stored and accessible). Interface Definition: a specification of inputs accepted by the model and outputs of the model (e.g., a content addressed URL where an interface definition for the relative model is stored and accessible). Blockchain Reference: A pointer to a Non-Fungible Token (NFT) corresponding to the model and stored on a decentralized computing network, such as a blockchain or other distributed ledger technology.
ASM’s Token Mechanism
In the ASM ecosystem, Agents can be owned (individually or jointly) and traded as NFTs. The ASTO token can be used to improve or train AI Agents, these improvements are saved to a memory tree and can be traded or sold along with the AI Brain. This means ASM can be utilized in a broad decentralized economy across various metaverses, games, and financial applications. Specifically, the ASM platform is powered by the ASTO token. This token can be used to govern the Altered State DAO and drive the economy. Its uses include creating (minting) new Agents, training Agents, inter-Agent transactions, liquidity mining, play-and-earn, and more.
ASTO serves as the governance token for the ASM ecosystem, boasting a total supply of 2,384,000,000. Among this, 20% of the total ASTO allocation is dedicated to Play-to-Earn, with 2% initially allocated to the Play-to-Earn pool. The remaining 18% will be gradually issued over 72 months at a linear rate. Furthermore, 16% of the total ASTO is reserved for the Ecosystem, with 5% allocated to the Ecosystem Fund upon inception. Regarding reserves, 15% of the total ASTO is allocated, with 1.5% designated to the Treasury Reserve at inception, and the remaining 13.5% distributed linearly over 48 months. Lastly, 15% is allocated for Early Contributors, and another 15% is issued to the Company.
Summary
The ASM platform powers the creation and training of AI-driven NFTs known as Agents, enabling individuals and organizations to own, train, and evolve AI through revolutionary intelligence training protocols. By incorporating AI applications into the metaverse, ASM is poised to lead a new revolution of “AI for everyone”.
