To address these needs, Bitfinex is pleased to announce the integration of Google Single Sign-On (SSO). This update allows all Bitfinex customers worldwide to sign up and log in using their existing Google credentials, providing a more seamless, secure, and efficient entry point to our deep liquidity and advanced trading tools.
Why SSO Matters
The introduction of Google SSO simplifies the authentication workflow without compromising the “security-first” architecture that defines Bitfinex. Instead of remembering individual passwords, traders can now authenticate via Google and enter the Bitfinex trading environment seamlessly.
1- Enhanced Security Posture
By utilising Google SSO, traders also benefit from:
– Proactive Threat Detection: Google’s advanced algorithms identify suspicious login attempts in real time.
– Reduced Phishing Surface: Fewer passwords mean fewer opportunities for credential harvesting and phishing attacks.
– Centralised Identity Management: Corporate teams can better manage access across their organisation by tying exchange access to their primary secure workspace.
2- Frictionless Operational Efficiency
Professional traders require high-velocity access. Google SSO eliminates the friction of manual credential entry, allowing for faster transition between analysis and execution.
– Streamlined Access with Google Sign-In: Bitfinex supports Google Single Sign-On as an alternative login method, offering customers a simpler authentication experience alongside required Bitfinex security controls.
– Cross-Device Continuity: Seamlessly switch between the Bitfinex web platform and mobile application with a unified login experience.
3- Multi-Layered Protection
It is important to note that Google SSO serves as a robust access layer. For professional accounts, we continue to recommend pairing SSO with our existing suite of advanced security features, including:
– Universal 2nd Factor (U2F): Hardware security keys (like Yubico) for hardware-level authentication.
– IP Whitelisting: Restricting account access and withdrawals to specific, trusted corporate IP addresses.
– Advanced API Permissions: Granular control over “read” and “write” capabilities for automated trading systems.
