To celebrate the launch of Binance NFT, we’re paying homage to pioneering artists Andy Warhol and Salvador Dali, whose innovative approach to art mirrors the spirit of today’s NFT landscape. NFT technology has revolutionized the world of art for good, bringing the concept of digital ownership to life for the very first time. As a fitting tribute, we’re kicking off the launch of Binance NFT with a collection that brings together two of the most celebrated artists of all time.
As part of our first “Premium Event” auction, the ‘Genesis’ collection will feature two iconic artworks: Three Self-Portraits and Divine Comedy: rebeget. Helen Hai, the Head of Binance NFT, says “Binance shares similar values as ‘Genesis’, revolutionizing the fintech space with blockchain technology and crypto, paving the ways as a blockchain pioneer leader, just like how ‘Genesis’ auction will do the same for the NFT industry.”
The auction for the ‘Genesis’ collection starts on June 24 at 10AM UTC, and will last for a period of 5 days.
Three Self-Portraits by Andy Warhol
The 3 portraits series are Nirvana, Vitality and Harmony.
As a leader of the Pop Art movement, Andy Warhol introduced the art world to silk screening, a commercial printing technique that allows designs to be easily reproduced. Three Self-Portraits is an iconic example of this technique, featuring striking renditions of the artist in stark colors. Though the three self-portraits are ultimately comprised of the same image, each rendition (titled Nirvana, Vitality and Harmony) features a unique texture and color, lending the self-portraits their own individual flair.
Warhol’s introduction of mass production techniques to visual art has foreshadowed today’s digital world, where content can be easily copied, downloaded and reshared. Just as Warhol changed the perception of value when it came to reproducible artwork, NFT technology has forever changed the way we assign value to digital art. With Three Self-Portraits, we pay tribute to Warhol’s pioneering work with a community artist’s tribute to Warhol’s original artwork. This recreation series will be available on June 24 at 10 AM UTC, with an exclusive run of 100 NFTs. The winner will also receive the physical art piece shipped by Apenft.
Divine Comedy: rebeget by Salvador Dali
The Divine Comedy NFT featuring the bitcoin symbol
Dali’s Divine Comedy: rebeget was originally commissioned in 1965 by the Italian government to commemorate the 700th anniversary of famed poet Dante Alighieri’s birth. Dante’s Divine Comedy is one of the most recognizable works of literature in the modern world, and Dali’s watercolor illustrations pay tribute to the journey depicted in the Divine Comedy.
As a precursor to Renaissance literature, the Divine Comedy has influenced countless artists and helped shape the modern world of art. 2021 marks the 700th anniversary of Dante’s death. To commemorate this anniversary, Binance NFT is offering a digitally recreated version of Divine Comedy: rebeget as an NFT.
The Divine Comedy NFT features blockchain elements, including the bitcoin symbol, the Binance logo and CZ’s signature in the artwork itself (which can be seen only when zoomed in), as a nod to the foundational impact Binance NFT hopes to have on the world of NFTs.
The 5-day auction for the ‘Genesis’ collection, which includes Divine Comedy: rebeget and Three Self-Portraits, starts on June 24 at 10AM UTC.
Unboxing mystery NFTs: Unlock special ‘tokidoki’ x Binance NFT mystery boxes
At launch, Binance NFT will feature our first series of “mystery boxes”, a fun new way for users to unlock special NFTs. “Mystery boxes” are guaranteed to each contain one NFT, with contents ranging from ultra-rare, limited edition NFTs to more common collectibles. Users now have an accessible and exciting way to add new NFTs to their collection.
Our first “Mystery Box” collection features 16 collectible ‘tokidoki’ characters, including 3 Binance characters which can only be obtained in our first “Mystery Box” drop, made available exclusively through NFKings Productions on Binance NFT. Recently, we announced our “100 Creators” program to spotlight local talent from around the world. Users will be able to browse NFT content starting on launch day, with additional works to be listed during the first week of launch.
Creators releasing NFTs under the 100 creators program will be periodically releasing their NFTs over the next four weeks. Follow your favourite creators on social media to make sure you don’t miss out when their NFT drops go live!
The “100 Creators” program debuts as part of our “Trading Market” category, which features work from talented artists and everyday creators from around the world. As part of our creator-first approach, Binance NFT offers some of the lowest fees available anywhere, with a nominal 1% processing fee—while creators and artists will receive a 1% lifetime royalty, receiving profits from each NFT sale or trade, no matter how many times the work changes hands.
