“Hi, all friend(s) of Poloniex, my name is Peter HK Wong, aka Peter the God. I am very happy to make connections with you all. Thank you!” Peter, 78, greeted Poloniex via WhatsApp with his significant strong and solid voice.

Better known as “Peter the God” or “Kwei the God”, due to his not very accurate football predictions in the past, Peter seems to be fine with the “honorable title” mocked by netizens, and he is still using different social media channels to interact with fans at the age of nearly 80.

Knowing that the World Cup 2022 is approaching, Peter used his “golden mouth” again to give some tips to football fans, but this time, he maticuously quoted the poll results from the Hong Kong Jockey Club, named “Who will be the winner of WC?”.

“It’s hard to say who will be the winner since no single match has started yet, but according to the Jockey Club’s poll, most fans voted for Brazil, which is one of the elite squads of all time. On the other hand, Costa Rica was voted least likely to win,” said Peter.

Traditionally, the World Cup is a golden opportunity for football players to showcase their skills since the international sporting event is only held once every four years.

When asked who are the rising stars that we should pay attention to, Peter believed there would be few shining ones emerging after the completion of a few matches, but he, again, didn’t name any personally.

As for which national team is the fittest, Peter “blessed” a few, but he repeated again everything was based on the aforementioned poll. Hence, Belgium, Canada, and Morocco are worth nothing since Belgium ranked 9th based on the same poll, while the Canadian and Moroccan squads are with a majority of young players and with strong team spirit, so he said fans could keep an eye out for them, even if these national teams may not be the top ones in the history of the World Cup.

This year’s World Cup will kick off in Qatar, which is the first host country in the Middle East, but the country has faced a lot of criticism surrounding the bribery scandals, scorching weather, and human rights issues.

To cater to athletes’ needs, the Qatar World Cup is held in winter, which is the first time very in the World Cup history. Also, players can play in stadiums with air conditioners, which are very differenet than the previous settings.

However, Peter personally thought that the football players would feel more comfortable to play indoor with the temperature of 26°C. In addition, most players have honed their skills in different major leagues in Europe prior to the World Cup, so they should be able to play at their best forms.

As a football commentator for more than two decades, Peter has seen many changes in the sports industry, but he firstly heard of the term, Fan Tokens.

When asked his views over this emerging way of football clubs to interact with fans, Peter honestly said that he didn’t know this trend and he needed to study more before making further comments, but he didn’t oppose any new technologies that “work” for everyone .

This is the end of the first interview with Peter. Stay tuned for the next one since Peter will share with us his views on philosophy. Behind the smiling face and very colorful personality, Peter has faced two tragedies in his life, which have completely changed his views towards life and death.

What are Fan Tokens?

The birth of Fan Tokens can be traced back to 2020 when the world was devastated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the yearlong pandemic, major sports events at the domestic, regional and international levels were forced to be postponed or canceled, draining the cash flow of every sports club. Therefore, some football clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, and Arsenal, as well as sports organizations like NBA and NHL, began to explore the profitability and possibility of utilizing blockchain technology to facilitate the interaction between with their fans and seek another source of income.
