We previously mentioned that we are planning to expand our Engineering team rapidly and, to support us on this journey, we are happy to announce our latest Bitpanda hire: João Luís has been appointed as our new VP of Engineering.
João recently joined the Bitpanda team with the ambition of building a world-class engineering organisation to support Bitpanda’s future growth. “Due to my passion for investing in the stock market and cryptocurrencies, I am very excited to be a part of Bitpanda’s mission of making investing more accessible.”
In his new role, João will be responsible for all of Bitpanda’s engineering hubs and will establish the foundations for growing the engineering department threefold to more than 350 employees, as well as for scaling product development processes and software architecture. “One of the biggest challenges will be to cope with the growing demands of the technology that supports our products, but also the question of how to attract talent and how to approach remote work”, João says about his plans for the company.
João holds a BSc in Computer Science, with a major in Applied Mathematics and a postgraduate degree in Business Management and has more than 10 years of technical management experience in the software industry, both in private as well as publicly-listed companies. Originally hailing from Porto, Portugal, he will move to Bitpanda’s Vienna headquarters in September.
