What is DeSci?
Decentralised Science (DeSci) aims to transform the scientific landscape by addressing inefficiencies in funding, research accessibility, and collaboration through blockchain and decentralised technologies. Traditional research models are often limited by institutional gatekeeping, restrictive funding mechanisms, and barriers to knowledge sharing, slowing down scientific progress. DeSci disrupts this system by introducing Decentralised Autonomous Organizations (DAOs) and token-based funding models that allow communities of researchers, funders, and enthusiasts to directly support scientific projects. This approach is designed to ensure that fields, such as longevity research, AI-driven medicine, and open-source robotics, receive the resources they need to advance. Additionally, decentralised research repositories remove paywalls and institutional constraints, making scientific data openly accessible and verifiable, thereby enhancing transparency and reproducibility. As DeSci continues to evolve, it is paving the way for a more equitable and collaborative research ecosystem, where knowledge is not controlled by a few institutions but is instead driven by a global, decentralised community of contributors.
