Based on public materials, OpenClaw is positioned as a personal AI assistant that runs on users’ own devices, receives tasks through multiple messaging channels such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, Discord, Google Chat, Feishu, Teams, and LINE, and then executes actions across files, browsers, calendars, email, and the terminal. Its GitHub repository states it even more clearly: “Gateway is just the control plane — the product is the assistant.” This suggests that OpenClaw is not competing to become another AI chat interface, but rather to occupy a much more important position: the execution entry point in the AI era.
