DECENTRALIZED AFRICA: Over $30,000 in Prizes To Hackathon Participants in Africa

Following this, we will hold a DeFi & NFT hackathon from June 7th to June 28th, 2021. The 20-day hackathon will empower blockchain engineers to rapidly build blockchain solutions on the Binance Smart Chain in order to solve real problems identified in the African systems in place today.

The Hackathon theme, “Decentralized Africa”, is dedicated to the development of DeFi, NFT projects covering Savings, Lending and Borrowing, Swaps, Royalties and Renting, Elections, Identity Management, Land Ownership, NFTs marketplaces amongst other relevant areas with a total Prize pool of $30,000+

Our total prize pool of $30,000+ will comprise:

  • $10,000 provided by the Binance Smart Chain Investment team

  • $20,000 constituting the “judges pick” category which will be allocated to outstanding projects that will impact the DeFi, NFTs, and “Africa Hero” space

  • An additional fund from partners such as Mobox, Refinable, Bundle, Quidax, Fortube, 1inch

  • Limited exclusive NFTs.

Each user will have the opportunity to support their favorite project!

The Binance Smart Chain investment team supports projects and ideas at an early stage. This hackathon will allow both individual participants and organizations to participate in the financing of developer projects. All participants will be able to present their projects on the platform of developers DoraHacks HackerLink.io and get a chance to compete for the main prize fund of $30,000 + additional prize fund from the community and sponsors!

The main aim of this hackathon is to build, experiment and push forward the frontier of possibilities with NFTs and DeFi. It will consist of workshops,AMA-sessions, webinars, daily lucky draws and conclude with a demo day showcase.

In addition, on June 6, 5PM WAT/ 6PM SAST/ 7PM EAT, there will be an opening ceremony where the organisers will give in-depth information about the hackathon and answer frequently asked questions from participants.

Who can participate: All developers, builders, and creators from Africa (hackathon is open to both beginners and non-beginners)

How to participate in the hackathon: Join the Telegram group here and sign up through the Hackerlink special landing page where all hackathon projects will be submitted.

What to expect: All DeFi and NFT projects will be built on the Binance Smart Chain and made completely open source. Participants will build cool solutions that will potentially solve some of the real problems facing Africa. Some examples of areas to cover include: Savings, Lending and Borrowing, Swaps, Royalties and Renting, Elections, Identity Management, Land Ownership, NFTs marketplaces amongst other relevant areas.
