Get started with Triggers

In this guide we will show you how to create a trigger for your bot, when it should trigger and what actions your trigger takes when triggered.

Creating your first trigger

To create your first trigger, go to Config and click on the tab: Triggers. On the left side, you will see how many triggers you can still create and how many you have left.

Click on the button New to create a new trigger.

Now you can start configuring your trigger. Start by entering a name, for example: BTC warning, Oversold email or other. Next you can enable or disable the trigger, we leave it enabled for now.

Indicators

In the indicators step you will need to select an exchange, market, candle size, and one or multiple indicators. At default, the exchange from your current hopper is selected, but you can also base your trigger on charts on different exchanges. Select the exchange you want to use, the market of the exchange and the candle size of the chart you want to use. For example: you could select the exchange Coinbase PRO, market: BTCUSD and candle size: 15 minutes.

Next, you will need to select the indicators. You can choose from the following indicators:

  • Price
The price indicator can be used to trigger when the price hits, goes over, or is lower than a certain price.
  • RSI
The RSI (Relative Strength Index) can be used as trigger when the market is oversold/overbought.
  • Stochastic
The Stochastic can be used as trigger when the market is oversold/overbought.
  • Stochastic RSI
The Stochastic RSI can be used as trigger when the market is oversold/overbought.
  • MACD
The MACD indicator can be used as trigger when the MACD strategy signals a buy/sell or is in a neutral state.
  • KAMA
The KAMA indicator can be used as trigger when the KAMA strategy signals a buy/sell or is in a neutral state.
  • EMA
The EMA indicator can be used as trigger when the EMA strategy signals a buy/sell or is in a neutral state.
  • SMA
The SMA indicator can be used as trigger when the SMA strategy signals a buy/sell or is in a neutral state.
  • Bollinger Bands
The Bollinger Bands indicator can be used as trigger when the Bollinger Bands strategy signals a buy/sell or is in a neutral state.

To configure these indicators select one or more of them by clicking on them. The setting for your indicator will appear below. You could for example select Price and configure that it triggers when the price (of BTC on Coinbase PRO) is greater than or equal to 50000.

Actions

Next you can select the actions your hopper must perform after it meets the indicator criteria and is being triggered. You can select the following actions:

  • Set buying status
    Set buying enabled or disabled.
  • Set selling status
    Set selling enabled or disabled.
  • Hold positions
Set hold positions for selected coins.
  • Unhold positions
Remove hold positions for selected coins.
  • Set percentage profit

  • Buy
    Buy selected coins.
  • Sell
    Sell selected coins.
  • Sell everything
    Panic sell everything.
  • Send email
Send an email with a message to yourself.

Select one or more actions and configure them. You could for example select: Send email and enter the message: Bitcoin going to the moon!

Cooldown period

Lastly, you need to configure the cooldown period. You can configure it in minutes, hours or days. For the example, we used we will configure it to 999 days because we want to avoid spam emails and only want to receive the email message one time.

Save

Now click Save and your trigger will be saved. Good luck with your very first trigger!
